Nick Bourassa, Football
Senior football player, Nick Bourassa (Jay, Maine) was named the Male Mariner of the Month. The Maine Maritime Academy athletics staff selects the honorees that are recognized at the monthly gathering of the Mariner Club, sponsored by the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
Bourassa was handed the football 18 times in September. He broke off 238 rushing yards (13.2 yards per carry) and four touchdowns and caught two passes for 48 additional yards. Bourassa averaged 24.2 yards per kickoff return and is second on the squad in all-purpose running yards with 143.7 per game. He leads the 3-0 Mariners in points with 24.
Sydney Robertson took the honor on the women's side. She has twice been named the North Atlantic Conference Rookie of the Week, helping Maine Maritime to a 12-2 start to the season. She posted 87 kills in her first month of college volleyball and is good for 2.17 kills per set. She also has 17 blocks this year including a team-high of five solo blocks. Six of her blocks came during Maine Maritime Academy’s sweep of Bates College, tying the program record for blocks in a match.
