Kalene enters her third year as the Head Athletic Trainer at Maine Maritime Academy. During her time at MMA she has been working to update all Athletic Training policies and procedures, upgrade equipment and make improvement to the Athletic Training facilities.  She is working toward building a better experience for student-athletes.

Kalene graduated summa cum laude from Norwich University in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Sports Medicine with a concentration in Athletic Training and a minor in Biology.  While at Norwich she was an active member of the community, served as President of the Sports Medicine Society, and was a member of the NU Visions abroad program.  She spent time volunteering in Tanzania, East Africa where she worked in a medical clinic, and helped build a library and male dormitory for the local school.

After graduating from Norwich, Kalene attended Indiana State University where she received a Master of Science Degree in Athletic Training.  While at Indiana State she had the opportunity to work as an Athletic Trainer for the NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships.  She also worked as a graduate assistant Athletic Trainer at a large local area high school where she was in charge of volleyball, wrestling and softball while assisting with other sports.

She follows a work philosophy of caring for an athlete as a whole person, focusing of the total well being of the athlete. She stresses the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle in all stages of sports participation.
