The Third Annual "Texas" Mariner Classic Golf Tournament sponsored by ABS will be held at The Woodlands Country Club / Palmer Course in The Woodlands, Texas on Monday April 2, 2012.

Registration for the 2012 "Texas" Mariner Classic has officially opened. The Maine Maritime athletic department is excited to announce that the Third Annual Mariner Classic Golf Tournament -- "Texas style" -- will be held at the Woodlands Country Club in The Woodlands, Texas.

"The Woodlands is a world renowned country club and we are very excited about the opportunity to once again be associated with them and the Palmer Course, said Tournament Director, Craig Dagan. “This is a great opportunity for our department and a chance for the alumni and maritime industry members in the gulf coast area to join us again in 2012.”

“We are thrilled to be back in the greater Houston area and we once again look forward to working with the Texas alumni chapter."

“We are extremely appreciative of all of our alumni and friends across the country who have stepped forward to provide the sponsorship support necessary to make this event a reality,” noted Eric Sabean, Maine Maritime Academy Director of Athletics. “We look forward to a great tournament and that famous Texas hospitality”.

The Mariner Classic is a golf tournament that benefits the Maine Maritime Athletic Department and its student-athletes. Proceeds from the tournament are used to help provide the student-athletes at Maine Maritime Academy with a quality NCAA Division III experience. The generous support offered by all is very much appreciated, "It never ceases to amaze us how many friends of Mariner athletics we have return to our tournaments every year,” said Dagan. “We are extremely grateful for all of the support provided, especially from the sponsors that have stepped up to make this event possible,"

ABS is the title sponsor of the event. The mission of ABS is to serve the public interest as well as the needs of their clients by promoting the security of life, property and the natural environment primarily through the development and verification of standards for the design, construction and operational maintenance of marine-related facilities.
