Girard was inducted alongside of Joe Moran. Girard and Moran are Portland natives who were high school rivals turned classmates, teammates, roommates, and lifelong friends at MMA. Playing for Coach Davis Wiggins, both were four year starters, Girard at right guard and outside linebacker, and Moran at right tackle. MMA’s record for those four years was 26-7.
Coaches and teammates considered Girard to be a very good player
and praised him for his toughness. He was named as an
Honorable Mention member of the All-Maine Small College Football
Team after his senior year. After graduation he was named to the
permanent team roster at the College Football Hall of Fame in South
Bend, Indiana.
Moran also received praise from coaches and teammates as a very
good player who was an “unsung hero” and never received
enough recognition for his play. Moran was named MMA’s
“Most Improved Player” after his sophomore season.
