KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Brendan Newcomb (Holden, Maine) and Dylan Price (Madison, Maine) have been named to the 2016-17 National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Honors Court. The NABC Honors Court recognizes the talents and gifts that these men possess off the court and the hard work they exhibit in the classroom.
Newcomb, a junior International Business & Logistics major, appeared in all 25 games for the Mariners and averaged 12.8 points per game. The team captain, led the team and the entire North Atlantic Conference (NAC) in three-pointers made (78). Newcomb was also a nominee for the 2017 NABC Good Works Team and is a two-time NAC All-Academic Team selection.
Price, a senior Power Engineering Technology major, appeared in 22 games for the Mariners. The three-year team captain is a two-time NAC All-Academic team selection and was named to the 2016-17 NAC Men's Basketball Sportsmanship Team.
In order to be named to the Honors Court, a student-athlete must meet a high standard of academic criteria. The qualifications are as follows:
1. Academically a junior or senior and a varsity player.
2. Cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.2 or higher at the conclusion of the 2016-17 academic year.
3. Students must have matriculated at least one year at their current institution.
4. Member of a NCAA Division I, II, III, or NAIA Division I or II institution with a NABC member coach.
