Mariners Fifth at NAC Championships
Husson University held off a furious Sunday charge by Salem State University to win its sixth consecutive North Atlantic Conference Men’s Golf Championship. The Eagles, who led Salem State and the seven-team field by six shots after Saturday’s round, won by one stroke at the Country Club of Vermont.

Mariners Golfers Fifth Through 18
Husson University holds a six-shot lead and looks for their sixth consecutive conference title after day one of the 2011 NAC Men’s Golf Championship as the Eagles’ score of 295 topped the field at the Country Club of Vermont. Salem State University stands in second place (301) while Castleton State College in third (315). The University of Maine-Farmington (329) is in fourth place while Maine Maritime Academy is in fifth place (339). Host Johnson State College (399) is in sixth place and Green Mountain College (420) is in the seventh.

Mariners Play to Draw at Machias
Maine Maritime Academy’s golf team played to a draw with Maine-Machias on Tuesday. The match-play event was called with a pair of matches on the course because of persistent, heavy rain.

UMPI Captures MMA Tri-Meet
The University of Maine at Presque-Isle posted a four-man score of 320 to top Maine Maritime Academy and Maine-Machias in a tri-meet played at Castine Golf Club on Tuesday. The Owls’ Michael Balmer and Reynold Brown each carded 76 to finish at the top of the field of 15.

Mariners Eighth at Farmington Invite
Freshman Dan Mackenzie shot 84 at the University of Maine-Farmington Invitational on Thursday to finish in a five-way tie for 23rd in the field of 44. Mackenzie’s efforts paced Maine Maritime Academy to an eighth place finish in the field of nine teams competing at Sunday River Golf Club.

Mariners Fifth at UMPI Invite
The University of Maine-Presque Isle won its own tournament by 15 strokes on Friday. The Owls hosted a five-team tournament and turned in a score of 326. Maine Maritime finished in fifth place in the field.

Gleason, Goodwin and Huggins Set for Hall Indcution
Maine Maritime Academy and Mariners Athletics are proud to announce the selection of Ernold “Ernie” Goodwin ’61, Fred Gleason ’64, and W. Kent Higgins ’66 for induction into the William J. Mottola Mariner Athletics Hall of Fame.
