Dennis enters his second year as the Head Men's Golf Coach at Maine Maritime Academy. In 2011 Dennis guided a young Mariner squad and was named the 2010 North Atlantic Conference Coach of the Year for his efforts.

Dennis, who has a Bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Maine at Orono, began his golfing career at Bangor Municipal Golf Course. He attended Bangor High School and played 4 years on the golf team winning a state title. Dennis has been a part of the Professional Golfers Association since 2008 and has been a teaching pro for the last three years. Shawn was an Assistant Professional at the Bangor Golf Course for 2 years before moving to Castine and becoming Head Professional at the Castine Golf Club.
