BIDDEFORD, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy men's lacrosse fell 23-3, to the University of New England on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action, at the Big Blue Turf.
Dean Samuelson (Southbury, Conn.) scored a pair of goals to lead Maine Maritime, while Alex Grant-Roy (Biddeford, Maine) added the other goal for the Mariners. George Doe (Kennebunkport, Maine), Grant-Roy, and Nikko Pappas (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) each scooped up six ground balls, while Nathan Granholm (Brunswick, Maine) led the Mariners defensively with two caused turnovers.
UNE's Donovan Connor led all players with four goals, including the first of his career. Connor Leggett scored three goals, while Dan Auger, Dylan Jones and Garett Bozek each scored twice. Jones got into the scoring column for the first time in his career, as did Noah Luccini and Jared Hall, who joined 10 players registering one goal for the Nor'easters.
In net, Maine Maritime's Daniel Lee (Satellite Beach, Fla.) tallied 13 saves in the loss, while UNE's David Pearson earned the victory, appearing in the first quarter with one save, and teammates Tyler Nevers, Jake Kampner and Sam MacKenzie combined for six saves, while each registering 15 minutes worth of action.
The Mariners fall to 2-8 overall, while the Nor'easters improve to 10-4. Maine Maritime returns to action on Wednesday, April 19 at 7:00 pm, when they host Thomas College for a North Atlantic Conference matchup.
