Five Mariners Named All-Academic
Five members of Maine Maritime Academy’s fall sports teams were recognized for their successes in the classroom. Jeremy Bullard (Manhattan, Kan.) of the men’s cross country team, Kari Jones (Nobleboro, Maine) of the women’s soccer team, Jenna King (Old Town, Maine) and Kayley Rodriguez (Quincy, Ill.) of the volleyball team, and Benjamin Russell (Farmington, Maine) of the men’s soccer team were named to the North Atlantic Conference All-Academic Team.

Cross Country Runs at Regionals
Third-ranked Middlebury defeated No. 1 Williams for the women's team crown by just five points on Saturday at the NCAA Division III Cross Country New England Regional Championships, while in the men's race the No. 7 Ephs returned the favor, defeating No. 16 Middlebury by one point for the men's title at Bowdoin College.

Mariners Seventh at NAC Championships
The New England College men's cross country team won its first-ever North Atlantic Conference title in grand fashion Sunday when it edged Lyndon 35-38, ending the Hornets' three-year reign as NAC champions. Maine Maritime Academy finished in seventh place among the NAC’s nine men’s teams.

Mariners Capture Own Invite
Maine Maritime Academy placed four runners in the top six spots to capture the 2011 Mariner Cross Country Invitational. Cameron Roy placed second with a time of 28:25, crossing 14 seconds behind the individual champion, Phillip Brody of Maine-Presque Isle.

Mariners Eighth at Maine Cross Country Championship
Maine Maritime Academy placed eighth among the 12 teams competing at the Maine Cross Country Championships, hosted by Bates College. The Bobcats bested Bowdoin for the team title with five runners in the top seven places.

Mariners Sixth at Bowdoin Invite
Cameron Roy finished in 56th place in the field of 87 runners to lead Maine Maritime Academy at the Bowdoin Invitational. The Polar Bear men dominated a six-team field, placing the top six individual runners to earn the victory. Half of the field was nationally ranked.

Men’s Harriers Race to Second
Cameron Roy raced to a tenth place finish with a time of 30:53 to lead Maine Maritime Academy to a second place finish at the five-team, Unity College Invitational on Saturday. Colby placed seven runners in the top ten to take first place.

Mariners Fifth at UNE Invite
Jurgen Pilot covered the 8,000-meter course at Rotary Park in 32:56 to finish in 44th place out of the 99 runners competing at the University of New England Invitational on Saturday. Pilot steered his team to a fifth place finish in the 11-team field, while Southern Maine edged the hosts for the team title.

Men’s Harriers Third at Farmington
The University of New England men's cross country runners turned in the top four times as the Nor'Easters won the University of Maine at Farmington Invitational Saturday at Mt. Blue High School. Paced by Noel Deserres-Gauthier’s 24:17, Maine Maritime Academy finished in third place among the eight teams competing.

MMA Names Cross Country Captains
Patrick Lindsey (Winthrop, ME/Winthrop High School) and Samantha Deplanche (Dover, NH/Dover High School) will captain the Maine Maritime Academy men’s and women’s respective cross country teams in 2011. Ryan King, the Mariners’ head coach, introduced the captains at the 49th Annual Cross Country Team Awards Banquet this past spring.
