In 2012 Katrina Dagan will enter her eighth season as the Head Softball Coach and her 11th season coaching at Maine Maritime Academy.
The 2011 softball season saw the Mariners continue their winning
ways, posting an 18-8 record. The team was 11-3 in North Atlantic
Conference play, finishing the regular season in third place. Three
players were honored as NAC All-Stars (Leah Jackson, Casey
McCloskey and Sabrina Keach). Jackson was also named the NAC
Defensive Player of the Year. Sabrina Keach and Brittany Hunt were
selected to the All-Tournament team and Megan Russell was named an
Academic All-Star for the second straight year.
"I am so proud of what our program has achieved over the past
couple seasons," says Dagan. "The players have worked hard to
create a great team atmosphere and have committed to improving in
the off-season."
"We will continue to challenge ourselves and set high goals in
order to keep improving. We have a great group of returning players
and we will add many talented freshmen to the 2012 team. "
In addition to her softball duties, Katrina has been an assistant
coach for the women's basketball team for the past ten years, and
the head volleyball coach for seven years. Dagan led the volleyball
team to four-straight conference championships and consecutive
trips to the NCAA Division III Tournament. Dagan also serves as the
Senior Women's Administrator at MMA.
Dagan grew up in Scarborough, Maine, and is a 1998 graduate of
Springfield College, where she received her Bachelor of Science
Degree in Physical Education. While at Springfield, she was a
four-year performer and captain for the women's basketball team.
After graduation, she went on to earn her Master's Degree in Health
Education and joined the women's basketball coaching staff. Prior
to arriving at MMA, Katrina taught health at Chicopee High School
(Chicopee, Mass.), while continuing to coach at Springfield.
