JOHNSON, Vt. – Casey Everest and Leah Jackson combined for 31 points to help Maine Maritime to a 58-35 win over Johnson State in a North Atlantic Conference women's basketball game Saturday. The Mariners finished the regular season 14-11 overall, 11-7 NAC. MMA clinched the No. 4 seed in next week's NAC playoffs and will host No. 5 Maine-Farmington Tuesday. Tip-off time will be determined Sunday.
The Badgers ended their season at 5-20, 2-16.
Everest finished with 16 points and rebounds and Jackson added 15 points, eight boards and five steals.
Deanna Brandstetter led JSC with eight points.
Maine Maritime jumped out to an early 12-5 lead following a lay-up by the Bekah Campbell to with 14:28 left to play in the opening half en route to a 23-13 halftime lead. The Mariners kept the Badgers at a safe distance putting as much as 30 points between the teams at the 9:53 mark in the second.
