CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy's Alayne Felix (Mahopac, N.Y.) has been named to the Maine Women's Basketball Coaches Association (MWBCA) First Team All-State for the second consecutive season.
Felix, a junior Power Engineering Technology major, started in all 28 games this season and led the Mariners with 16.2 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. The forward also led the team with a 48.7 field goal percentage. Felix scored in double-digits in all 28 games this season, and tallied six double-doubles, including three against conference opponents.
In the Mariners' 67-59 victory over Colby College on January 9 she tallied a career-high 31 points. On December 6, Felix scored her 1,000th point, tying Alyssa Burns as the quickest Maine Maritime Academy women's basketball player to reach the milestone, doing so in just 58 games.
This season Felix earned NAC Player of the Week honors four times, while also collecting two ECAC Division III North Player of the Week nods and four NEWBA Honor Roll mentions. Felix also earned MWBCA Player of the Week and Co-Player of the Week Honors. Felix helped lead the Mariners to their first 20-win season since 2006-2007 and first NAC Championship appearance since 2007-2008, where she was named to the All-Tournament Team.
Last season Felix was named to the MWBCA First Team, after earning MWBCA Second Team and MWBCA All-Rookie honors in 2015-2016, as well as being named the MWBCA Co-Rookie of the Year.
