Mariners Tame Mustangs; Win First-Ever Home Game

CASTINE, Maine -- Rachael Redles, Ally Fuehrer and Danielle Holt all recorded five points to lead Maine Maritime to a 14-2 win over Central Maine Community College in a non-conference women's lacrosse exhibition game Thursday. It was the first home women's lacrosse game at Maine Maritime and the Mariners improved to 1-1, while the Mustangs dropped to 0-1.

Fuehrer netted a game-high five goals, Holt added three, Patricia Dunford and Redles two each and Taylor O'Malley and Annie Koensgen found the back of the net once. Redles finished with a game-high three assists and Holt had a pair of helpers. Elin Sonesson stopped five shots in goal for Maine Maritime.

Holt won eight draws and Dunford pulled down six. Fuehrer and Koensgen recorded five and four turnovers for Maine Maritime.

The Mariners return to action Friday, 7 p.m., hosting University of Maine.
