COLCHESTER, Vt. -- Tori Cooper (Saco, Maine) scored five goals and dished out an assist to lead Maine Maritime Academy women's lacrosse to a 15-1 victory over Johnson State College, on Sunday afternoon in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action at St. Michael's College.
The Mariners scored 10-unanswered goals before Nichole Weeks scored Johnson's only goal of the game, with 26:29 remaining.
To go along with her six points, Cooper scooped up a team-high seven ground balls, recorded three draw controls and caused two turnovers. Madison Barry (Stoneham, Mass.) added her second hat-trick of the season, while scooping up a ground ball and causing a turnover. Ashlee Knight (Anson, Maine) tallied two goals and two ground balls, while Shelby O'Neil (Bar Harbor, Maine) chipped in with a pair of goals, four ground balls, and a draw control.
Briana Obshatkin (Dedham, Mass.) scored a goal and dished out an assist, while scooping up four ground balls, and both Julia Dillon (Norway, Maine) and Sydney Adams (Trumbull, Conn.) picked up their first career goals. Haley Eckert (Harrington, Maine) led the team with four draw controls, and also tallied a ground ball.
Weeks led the Badgers with a goal, eight ground balls, five draw controls, and four caused turnovers.
Sierra James (Campton, N.H.) earned the victory in net for the Mariners, stopping seven shots, while Johnson's Heatherann Esden registered 12 saves in the losing effort.
The Mariners improve to 5-2 overall and 3-1 in the conference, while the Badgers fall to 0-6 on the season and 0-4 in the NAC. Maine Maritime returns to action on Wednesday against the University of Maine at Farmington, at Thomas College.
