Five Mariners Named All-Academic
Five members of Maine Maritime Academy’s fall sports teams were recognized for their successes in the classroom. Jeremy Bullard (Manhattan, Kan.) of the men’s cross country team, Kari Jones (Nobleboro, Maine) of the women’s soccer team, Jenna King (Old Town, Maine) and Kayley Rodriguez (Quincy, Ill.) of the volleyball team, and Benjamin Russell (Farmington, Maine) of the men’s soccer team were named to the North Atlantic Conference All-Academic Team.

Elena Estrada scored a pair of goals, including the game-winner, to lead Maine-Presque Isle to a 3-1 win at Maine Maritime Academy on Sunday. Chelsea Beauchemin assisted two of the Owls (10-4) goals, including the game winner.

Veronica Hytner scored a goal and assisted on another to lead New England College to a 3-1 win over Maine Maritime Academy in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) women’s soccer on Saturday. Hytner factored in on the Pilgrims (8-7-2, 3-4-1) first and final goal in a wild first half.

Terriers Run Away in Second Half
Thomas College exploded for four goals in the second half to take a 5-1 victory over Maine Maritime Academy in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) women’s soccer on Wednesday. Arian Kumlangngam provided the game-winner in the 58th minute.

Mariners Blanked by Castleton
Freshman Jenna Bostwick scored two goals and added an assist to lead six different Spartans in the scoring column as Castleton State College defeated Maine Maritime Academy 7-0 in North Atlantic Conference women’s soccer action Sunday afternoon at Spartan Stadium.

MMA Falls to Green Mountain
The Green Mountain women’s soccer team picked up its second win of the season, a 2-0 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) victory over Maine Maritime Academy. The second win in as many games bumped the Eagles to 2-8-1 (1-5 NAC). Maine Maritime Academy moves to 0-11 (0-6).

Chargers Run Past MMA
Lauren Bernard scored a pair, but Adrienne Bender’s goal 159 seconds into regulation was all of the offense Colby-Sawyer needed to defeat Maine Maritime Academy in North Atlantic Conference women’s soccer on Saturday. The Chargers (9-4, 5-0 NAC) remained unscathed in NAC play, while the Mariners (0-10, 0-5 NAC) are still looking for the season’s first victory.

Chelsea Hostetter (Morrisville, Vt.) scored all four goals to lead Johnson State to a 4-0 win at Maine Maritime Academy in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) soccer on Sunday. The Badgers (8-2, 3-1 NAC) picked up their seventh shutout of the season.

Amanda Gifford (Lee, Maine) tallied a hat trick that included the game-winner as Husson handed Maine Maritime a 6-1, North Atlantic Conference (NAC) loss at Ritchie Field on Sunday. The Eagles (2-7, 1-1 NAC) fell behind early, but scored six unanswered on the Mariners (0-7, 0-2 NAC).

Bengals Too Much for Mariners
Doinke Ferrieria scored twice and assisted on another pair to lead Maine-Fort Kent to a 6-0 win over Maine-Maritime on Sunday. The Bengals (4-0-1) needed seven to minutes to tally the game-winner. UMFK outshot the Mariners (0-5) 42-1.

Women Edged by UMPI
Maine Maritime Academy fell 2-1 to the University of Maine at Presque Isle (3-0) in women’s soccer on Saturday. The Mariners (0-4) scored their first goal of the season in the loss. Emily Brogden (Union, Maine) put one touch on a well placed through ball by Annie Koensgen for the marker. MMA returns to action tomorrow at Maine-Fort Kent.
