CASTINE, Maine – The 2017 Maine Maritime Academy women's soccer schedule has been released.
The Mariners will open up their 2017 season with a three-game home stand beginning on Friday, September 1 against Unity College at 3:00 pm. The Mariners will host Gordon College on Saturday, September 2 and Bates College on Tuesday, September 5, before hitting the road to take on Smith College and Westfield State on September 9 and 10.
Maine Maritime will open up North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play when the team returns to Ritchie Field on Saturday, September 16 to Colby-Sawyer College at 6:30 pm as part of Homecoming Weekend.
The Mariners will host in-state conference rival, Thomas College on Tuesday, September 19 before heading to New Hampshire to take on New England College on Saturday, September 23.
On Sunday, September 24, Maine Maritime will host Wheaton College for a non-conference matchup, before traveling to Brunswick, Maine to take on Bowdoin College on Thursday, September 28.
The Mariners will host Johnson State and Lyndon on Saturday, September 20 and Sunday, October 1, Husson on Saturday, October 7 and UMaine-Presque Isle on Sunday, October 15 before wrapping up regular season play at UMaine-Farmington on Tuesday, October 17, Castleton University on Saturday, October 21, and Green Mountain College on Sunday, October 22.
Last season the Mariners went 10-7-2 overall, and 6-3 in the conference, to advance to the NAC Quarterfinals where they fell to Castleton in penalty kicks.
For the first time in program history, the Mariners competed in the ECAC Tournament, where they defeated Salve Regina 2-1 in overtime to advance to the Region 1 Championship. Maine Maritime fell to the eventual ECAC Champions, Springfield College 1-0.
