In 2009 the Lady Mariners tied a school record for victories with a 10-7-1 record, qualified for the conference tournament for the tenth straight season, and advanced to the conference semifinals. Evans coached four players who received conference recognition at the end of the year.  Katie Hutchinson and Diana Manatt-Rogers were first team all conference selections, while Megan Russell was selected to the second team.  Freshman Callie Thompson was chosen as the NAC Rookie of the year.  In addition the 2009 team was awarded the Team Academic Award by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America for the second consecutive year.  His 2008 squad qualified for the conference tournament for the ninth consecutive year, before bowing out in the quarterfinal round. Coach Evans coached three NAC all-conference players in 2008 including Katie Hutchinson, Diana Manatt-Rogers, and Megan Russell.

Prior to coming to MMA, Coach Evans spent 11 years at the University of Maine. He lead his 2003 men's soccer team to their first post season appearance since 1993, and the most wins in almost a decade. For his efforts that season he was named the America East conference Coach of the Year. Prior to being hired as the head men's soccer coach, Evans served as the Assistant Director of Soccer Operations for one season and served as the Assistant Men's Soccer Coach for three seasons.

He was a member of the New Hampshire Olympic Development Program, and was named to the Foster's Daily Democrat dream team in 1989.
