CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy's Jessica D'Auria (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) has been named the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Player and Rookie of the Week and teammate Melissa Spaulding (Fairbanks, Alaska) has been named the NAC Defensive Player of the Week.
Jessica D'Auria – Player & Rookie of the Week
D'Auria helped lead the Mariners to their second-consecutive NAC Championship Title. The freshman totaled 20 kills (2.86 k/s), 11 digs (1.57 d/s), five aces and a block to earn Tournament MVP honors. In the Mariners' 3-0 semifinal victory over New England College, the outside hitter tallied nine kills on 15 attacks and no errors (.600), four digs and an ace. In the 3-1 victory over Colby-Sawyer in the NAC Championship match, the NAC Rookie of the Year led the team with 11 kills, and added seven digs, four aces and a block assist.
Melissa Spaulding – Defensive Player of the Week
Spaulding helped lead the Mariners to their second-consecutive NAC Championship Title. The junior tallied 14 digs (2.00 d/s) and seven aces (1.00 sa/s) over the weekend. In the Mariners' 3-0 win over New England College, Spaulding had five aces and three digs and in the NAC Championship 3-1 victory over Colby-Sawyer she led the Mariners with 11 digs and also added a pair of aces.
