FARMINGTON, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy women's cross country placed sixth at the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Championship hosted by UMaine-Farmington on Saturday.
The Mariners placed three runners in the top 40 to combine for a team score of 169.
Sierra James (Campton, N.H.) led the Mariners on the 5k course with a time of 22:26.3 to place 17th overall out of the 95 runners. Alex Allen (Easton, Maine) finished 29th and Abigail L'Abbé (Topsham, Maine) placed 40th. Julia Dillon (Norway, Maine) placed 50th and Olivia Smith (Skowhegan, Maine) rounded out the top five finishers for the Mariners in 53rd place.
Colby-Sawyer College finished first overall with three runners in the top 10 for a team score of 43, while UMaine-Farmington placed second with a 60 and Castleton rounded out the top three with a 71.
New England College's Abby Shafer claimed the individual championship finishing the course with a time of 19:19.4.
The Mariners return to action at the NCAA Division III Northeast Regional Championship on November 11 at the Gorham Country Club.
