Cross Country Earns Mariner Cup

Maine Maritime Academy’s Cross Country teams earned the Mariner Cup, presented to the Mariners that best exemplify the spirit of service and camaraderie in the campus and Castine communities. The program earning the award is selected by the Mariners’ Athletic Director based on participation in community service, support of athletic/student-life programs, and academic performance. Maine Maritime finished in ninth place among the 10 teams running for the North Atlantic Conference Championship at New England College Saturday morning. Husson University captured the league title. The University of Maine at Presque Isle produced the first five runners across the finish line at the Mainer Invitational at Bucksport High School. The Owls’ Kayla Lagasse (Presque Isle, Maine ) won the three-mile event with a time of 19:51.
