Dr. Elizabeth True is the Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management at Maine Maritime Academy where she oversees all out of classroom learning, including the Athletic Department. As the Title IX Coordinator for the Academy, she works with the staff, faculty and students to ensure that the Academy is in compliance with Title IX guidance from the Office of Civil Rights. Earlier in her career, Dr. True served as the Chief Student Affairs Officer at Mount Ida College and Castleton State College, and also worked in Residence Life at the University of Maine and Cornell University.
She received her bachelor’s degree in American Studies from Mount Holyoke College, her master’s degree in Counselor Education from the University of Maine, and her doctorate in Educational Policy and Leadership Studies from the University of Vermont. She has held various leadership roles at the regional and national level of the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators and ACPA College Student Administrators International.
Dr. True serves on the School Board for her town of Sedgwick, Maine and also volunteers as the chair of the Religious Education Committee at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Ellsworth, Maine. Past community service commitments included recruiting and mentoring prospective adoptive parents with the Massachusetts Adoption Resource Exchange and serving on the Rape Crisis Hotline for Rutland County in Vermont.
