UCU Mariner Report: Week of October 8, 2018

Men's Cross Country

The Mariners were off last week and return to action this Saturday at the Green Mountain Invitational in Poultney, Vermont.

Women's Cross Country

The Mariners were off last week and return to action this Saturday at the Green Mountain Invitational in Poultney, Vermont.

Football

The Mariners fell to MIT 35-0 last Saturday, and return to action at Coast Guard on Saturday at 1:30 pm. 

The Bears hold a 9-6 all-time record over the Mariners. Last season the Mariners won their first-ever NEWMAC game against the Bears at home, 34-16. 

Golf

The Mariners placed fourth out of eight teams last Thursday at the Mariner Invitational, led by senior Joey Moir who tied for seventh place overall. Maine Maritime returns to action at the two-day North Atlantic Conference Championships beginning on Saturday at the Country Club of Vermont.  

Last season the Mariners finished fourth at the NAC Championship led by Moir, who finished in a three-way tie for 11th place. 

Men's Soccer

The Mariners went 0-1 this week, falling in a non-conference matchup to Bates College on Wednesday night. The squad returns to action on Monday when they host UMaine-Fort Kent at 3:00 pm, before hosting Unity on Tuesday night and UMaine-Presque Isle on Saturday.

The Mariners are 32-22-2 all-time against the Bengals. Fort Kent has won the last 14 meetings, including a 5-0 victory at home last season over the Mariners.

The Mariners are 48-6-1 all-time against the Rams, including victories in the last seven matchups. The Mariners defeated Unity 6-1 in the last meeting in 2010. 

The Mariners are 30-27-6 all-time over the Owls, including eight-consecutive victories. In the last meeting, the Mariners defeated the Owls 5-0 in Castine in 2016. 

Women's Soccer

The Mariners went 1-1 this week, falling to Bowdoin College on Tuesday night but securing their seventh shutout of the season in a crucial 1-0 NAC victory against Husson on Saturday. 

The team returns to action on Monday when they host UMaine-Fort Kent at 12:30 pm, before hosting UMaine-Presque Isle on Saturday.

The Bengals hold an 11-5 all-time record over the Mariners, including victories in the last nine meetings, in 2016 the Mariners fell to UMFK 3-0 on the road.

The Mariners hold a 15-9-2 all-time record over the Owls, including four-straight victories with the most recent win coming in Castine, last season, 6-0.

Volleyball

Maine Maritime went 3-0 this week, picking up a non-conference win over UMaine-Machias and a pair of wins against UMaine-Fort Kent.

This week the Mariners travel to Bates College on Wednesday night before heading to Vermont for a NAC playdate against NVU-Lyndon and NVU-Johnson.

The Bobcats are 9-4 all-time against the Mariners, and defeated Maine Maritime 3-1 last year in Castine.

The Mariners are 12-0 all-time against the Hornets, including a 3-0 win last season. 

The Mariners are 9-0 all-time against the Badgers, including a 3-0 victory last season.
