BOSTON – Maine Maritime pounded Fisher for a combined 27 runs on 26 hits during a Sunday softball sweep. The Mariners (7-1) topped the Falcons (0-15) 10-2 in the opener, then tacked on a 17-1 drubbing in the nightcap. The Mariners staff held Fisher to a single hit in each game.
Andi Flannery (E. Machias, Maine) continued her hot weekend at the dish, going 6-for-8 on Sunday. She drove in three runs, scored four more and stole a pair of bases. Erica Taylor (Mesquite, Texas) went 4-for-7 with four runs batted in and three scored. She aided her own cause in the nightcap with her first home run of the year, a two-run blast.
Taylor limited Fisher to one hit and one unearned run in the nightcap. She fanned six and issued a single walk in moving to 3-1 on the year. Abby Yeo (Bucksport, Maine) struck out seven allowing two runs, one earned, to improve to 3-0. Yeo scored three runs and drove in as many during Sunday's slugging clinic.
Sabrina Keach (Chesterville, Maine) went 3-for-6 with a double and a triple. She scored twice and drove in two, while Cindy Schultz (Bingham, Maine) went 2-for-4 with two runs scored on Sunday. Alexandra Martin (Buckfield, Maine) went 3-for-6, scoring three runs and stole two bases, while Kelsie Hilton (Monmouth, Maine) went 2-for-3 scoring three runs, driving one in and stealing a base.
The Mariners are idle until Saturday when Maine Maritime opens the North Atlantic Conference portion of its slate at New England College.
