Thomas College thumped Maine Maritime in a pair of North Atlantic Conference (NAC) softball games Tuesday afternoon. The Terriers (8-17-1, 5-2-1 NAC) won the opener 15-3 before taking the nightcap from the Mariners (9-11, 2-6 NAC) 10-1.
Thomas pounded out 26 hits on the twinbill while limiting the Mariners to seven on the afternoon. Kelsey Crowe tossed a two-hitter in game two, striking out seven and allowing a single unearned run. Crowe went 4-for-6 with an RBI and a run scored over the two games, picking up a pair of hits in each.
Ali Kriegel and McKayla Gastia also went 4-for-6 for Thomas, with Kriegel scoring twice and driving in four runs. Gastia scored four times and plated as many runs. The Terriers broke open a 2-1 nightcap with five runs on five hits and two errors in the bottom of the third. Gastia hit a two RBI double in the frame.
Maine Maritime's Erica Taylor (Mesquite, Texas) blasted her seventh home run of the season to lead off the second in the first game. Taylor is within a single home run of tying the Mariners' single-season record. Taylor went 2-for-2 in the opener. Abby Yeo (Bucksport, Maine) went 2-for-6 with a run scored and an RBI on the afternoon.
Thomas broke open the first game with seven runs on six hits and two errors in the bottom of the second. The Terriers tacked on seven more runs on seven hits and an error in the bottom of the fourth, highlighted by Alyssa Eugley's three-run homer. It was her only hit of the game. Samantha Moore also hit a home run for Thomas. She went 3-for-4 with three runs score and two RBI in the opener.
Maine Maritime returns to action on Saturday at Johnson State.
