Maine Maritime Falls to Plymouth State

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Maine Maritime Academy football fell to Plymouth State University, 48-6 on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action at Currier Field.

Maine Maritime's Andrew Haining (Palmyra, Maine) amassed 132 yards on 11 completions and a touchdown, while Tyler Pelletier (Plymouth, Maine) pulled down two passes, for 56 yards and Dominic Casale (Freeport, Maine) recorded six catches for 53 yards and a touchdown.

Terrell Thomas (Auburn, Maine) led the Mariners defensively with 14 tackles, including 12 solo stops and Joel Bennett (Chelsea, Maine) tallied eight total tackles, seven solo, and a broken up pass.

Plymouth's Brett Lavanchy threw for 114 yards, on eight completions and a touchdown, while David Hamilton amassed 96 yards on 15 rushes and two touchdowns.

The Panthers scored on their first two drives and entered halftime with a 27-0 lead, en route to the victory. Maine Maritime scored late in the fourth, on a 7-play 86-yard drive capped off by a 19-yard touchdown toss from Haining to Casale.

With the loss the Mariners fall to 0-2, while the Panthers improve to 2-0. Maine Maritime will return to action next Saturday, September 21 when they host Massachusetts Maritime for the 47th Annual Admiral's Cup as part of Homecoming 2019 at Ritchie Field at 12:00 pm.
