CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy men's basketball fell to Husson University 93-56 on Saturday afternoon in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action inside of Smith Gymnasium.
With the loss the Mariners fall to 1-11 overall and 0-5 in the NAC, while the Eagles improve to 8-2 on the season and 5-0 in conference play. The Mariners return to action next Friday, January 12 when they host New England College at 7:30 p.m., for a NAC matchup inside of Smith Gym.
The Eagles jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the opening seconds and never looked back, picking up the 93-56 victory.
Riley Jorgenson (Vienna, Va.) led the Mariners with 14 points, five rebounds, a steal and a block, while Nicholas DePatsy (Waldoboro, Maine) chipped in with 10 points, five rebounds, three assists and a steal.
Husson's Raheem Anderson led all players with 24 points, while also adding five rebounds, four steals, a pair of assists and a block. DJ Busse added 17 points, three steals and a rebound off the bench and Justin Martin contributed 14 points, nine rebounds, two assists and a block. Kyanti Blyden rounded out the players in double-digits with 12 points, five rebounds, and two assists.
The Eagles shot 49.3 percent from the floor, while the Mariners shot 33.3 percent. Husson also held a 52-28 edge in rebounds.
