Strong Second Half Lifts Gators Over Mariners

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Maine Maritime Academy men's basketball fell to Pine Manor College, 78-64 on Wednesday night in non-conference action at Brunelli Court. 

How It Happened: The Mariners entered halftime with a 39-38 advantage, but the Gators shot 57.1 percent from the floor in the second half, and outscored the Mariners 40-25 to claim the 78-64 victory.  

Inside the Numbers: Nicholas DePatsy (Waldoboro, Maine) led all players with 21 points and added five rebounds, two assists and a steal.

DeMerrill Levy (Houston, Texas) added 12 points, five rebounds, an assist, a block and a steal, while Kimani Anderson (Houston, Texas) contributed 11 points, five rebounds, and two assists. Riley Jorgenson (Vienna, Va.) recorded nine points and a team-high seven rebounds, while also adding an assist and a steal. 

Steven Collins led the Gators with 18 points, six assists, four steals and two rebounds, while Shaun Miller added 17 points, three rebounds and a steal off the bench and Rasheed Bell chipped in with 10 points, seven rebounds, four assists and two steals. 

The Gators shot 47.7 percent from the floor, while the Mariners shot 39.3 percent. Pine Manor also held a 40-31 edge in rebounds.

Up Next: The Mariners fall to 1-2 on the season, while the Gators improve to 1-1 overall. Maine Maritime remains in Massachusetts to take on Eastern Nazarene College tomorrow at 7:00 p.m.
