STANDISH, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy men's basketball fell to Saint Joseph's College of Maine, 104-78 on Tuesday night in non-conference action at the Harold Alfond Center.
How it Happened: The Monks built an early 22-10 lead in the first half, but the Mariners closed the gap to seven points midway through the half. Saint Joseph's began to pull away and held a 54-33 advantage at halftime, en route to the victory.
Inside the Numbers: Adam Richardson (Bradley, Maine) led the Mariners with 21 points, seven assists, five rebounds and a steal. DeMerrill Levy (Houston, Texas) tallied 19 points, six assists and a rebound and Nicholas DePatsy (Waldoboro, Maine) contributed 15 points, five rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Jack Casale led the Monks with 28 points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals, while Ian Mileikis tallied 22 points, five rebounds, two steals and an assist, and Darian Berry contributed 19 points, eight rebounds, three assists and a steal. Tatsuaki Sakai added 10 points, four assists, two steals and a rebound.
The Mariners shot 47.8 percent from the floor, while the Monks shot 58.7 percent and held a 39-29 advantage in rebounds.
Up Next: The Mariners fall to 5-3 overall while the Monks improve to 6-2 on the season. Maine Maritime returns to action on Sunday, December 30, when they host the University of New England at 3:00 pm.
