CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy men's basketball sailed to an 86-67 victory over Northern Vermont University-Johnson on Saturday afternoon in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action inside of Smith Gymnasium.
How it Happened: The Mariners scored first and never gave up the lead, taking their biggest lead of the afternoon (58-27), with 13:02 remaining. The Badgers battled back with a 21-4 run to close the gap to 62-48 late in the contest, but the Mariners hit back-to-back threes with three minutes to play and cruised to the 86-67 victory.
Inside the Numbers: Adam Richardson (Bradley, Maine) led the Mariners with a game-high 27 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double, while also contributing seven assists and a block.
Nicholas DePatsy (Waldoboro, Maine) tallied a double-double with 22 points and a game-high 12 assists and also contributed four rebounds, a steal and a block.
Donell Shaw led the Badgers with 21 points, seven rebounds, three steals and an assist and Robert Dubose added 17 points, five rebounds, five steals and an assist.
The Mariners shot 60.4 from the floor, a season-best against a conference opponents, while the Badgers shot 37.9 percent from the floor. Maine Maritime held a 37-28 advantage on the boards.
Up Next: The Mariners improve to 10-10 overall and 6-4 in the conference, while Badgers drop to 3-18 on the season and 2-9 in the NAC. The Mariners return to action on Tuesday, February 5 when they travel to UMaine-Presque Isle for a 5:30 pm conference tip-off.
