Maine Maritime Academy men's basketball fell to UMaine-Farmington 95-72, on January 25, in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action inside of Dearborn Gymnasium.
The two teams battled back-and-forth early in the first half, but the Beavers outscored the Mariners 31-8 in the final 10 minutes of the half to take a 57-34 advantage into halftime.
Maine Maritime closed the gap to 20 points on two occasions to start the half and again with 2:59 remaining, but Farmington's early run proved to be too large to overcome.
Nicholas DePatsy (Waldoboro, Maine) led the Mariners with 21 points, two rebounds and an assist.
Adam Richardson (Bradley, Maine) added 17 points, four rebounds, an assist and a block.
Riley Robinson led all players with 24 points, while adding five rebounds, four assists and two steals. Amir Moss contributed 16 points, eight rebounds, two assists and two steals. Milani Hicks added 15 points, nine rebounds, three steals and a block. Bill Ruby rounded out the players in double-figures with 13 points, three rebounds and three assists.
The Mariners shot 55.6 percent from the floor, and 50.0 percent from beyond the arc, while the Beavers shot 50.0 percent from the floor, and 52.0 percent from three-point land. Farmington held a 32-24 edge in rebounds.
Adam Richardson scored a game-high 22 points to lead Maine Maritime Academy men's basketball to a 68-63 victory over Thomas College in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action inside of Smith Gymnasium, on January 26.
After a back-and-forth start to the first half, the Terriers used a 10-point run to take a 22-16 lead with 8:13 to play. The Mariners fought back to take a 31-27 lead into halftime.
The Terriers came out strong in the second half, to take their biggest lead of the game (52-43) with 9:58 to play. Richardson hit a layup to spark a six-point run for the Mariners, cutting the deficit to 52-49 at 8:09. Kimani Anderson (Houston, Texas) made a layup and Riley Jorgenson (Vienna, Va.) hit back-to-back threes to give the Mariners a 57-54 lead with 6:09 to play.
Thomas tied the game at 58-58 but Richardson scored six-unanswered points for the Mariners to make it 64-58 at 1:07. Zach MacKinnon hit a three to bring the game within three points, but the Mariners were strong at the line in the final 21 seconds to close out the victory.
Richardson led all players with 22 points, six rebounds, six assists and a block.
Jorgenson added 13 points, six rebounds, two steals and an assist and both Anderson and Nicholas DePatsy added 11 points. Anderson added four rebounds and two steals while DePatsy contributed a game-high seven assists, five rebounds and three steals.
Justin Butler led the Terriers with 16 points, three rebounds, two steals and an assist off the bench and Lovegeurson Fleurine chipped in with 14 points, nine rebounds, and an assist.
The Mariners shot 43.1 percent from the floor, while the Terriers shot 38.5 percent. The Terriers held a 44-31 advantage in rebounds.
Maine Maritime Academy's Last Game: Maine Maritime Academy men's basketball defeated UMaine-Presque Isle 70-67, on Tuesday night in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action inside of Wieden Hall Gymnasium.
The teams battled closely in the first half as the Owls took a narrow 31-30 lead into halftime.
UMPI hit a three to open up the second half, but the Mariners responded with a 15-2 run to take a 45-35 lead at 13:30. The Owls battled back, but the Mariners went on a six-point run capped off by a defensive rebound and basket by Riley MacLeod (Bucksport, Maine) to take a 59-51 lead with just under seven minutes to play.
The Owls kept within striking distance, hitting a three with 20 seconds left to close the gap to 68-67, but Andrew Liebert (Plano, Texas) made both attempts from the line to give the Mariners a 70-67 edge and Riley Jorgenson pulled down a crucial defensive rebound as time expired to secure the victory.
Adam Richardson led the Mariners with a game-high 23 points, five assists, four rebounds and a steal.
Jorgenson added 14 points, seven rebounds, two assists and two steals, while both Nicholas DePatsy and Liebert chipped in with 12 points. DePatsy also contributed five rebounds, three assists and two steals and Liebert added four rebounds.
Griffin Guerrette led the Owls with 21 points, four rebounds, an assist and a steal, Shyquinn Dix added 16 points, five assists, four rebounds, and a steal and Wilburn Griffiths contributed 12 points, a rebound and a steal.
The Mariners shot 57.4 percent from the floor, while the Owls shot 42.6 percent. UMPI held a 32-27 edge in rebounds.
UMaine-Farmington's Last Game: UMaine-Farmington's men's basketball team was edged by Bates College on Tuesday night by a final score of 73-65.
Bill Ruby led all scorers with 27 points on 10-16 shooting from the floor, 7-11 from behind the arc with nine rebounds and two assists. Amir Moss added 15 points with six rebounds three assists, and one steal as Riley Robinson finished 13 points on 5-13 shooting with eight rebounds, five assists, and one steal. Milani Hicks added seven points with eight rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
Kody Greenhalgh and Nick Lynch each scored 16 points. Lynch notched a double-double with 10 rebounds to go along with two steals and two blocks while Greenhalgh finished with one rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Tom Coyne added 12 points with three rebounds, three assists, and one steal as Nick Gilpin finished with 10 points and six rebounds.
Thomas College's Last Game*: The Thomas College men's basketball team defeated UMaine-Presque Isle 82-71 in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) game last Saturday afternoon.
The teams traded the lead through the first 10 minutes of the half, with the score tied 14-14 midway through the period. The Terriers used an 11-3 run over the next three and a half minutes to take a 25-17 lead late in the half and went into the break up 35-27.
UMPI closed the gap early in the second, starting the half on a 9-2 run that cut the Thomas lead to 37-36. The Terriers held off the Owls through the next few minutes, but UMPI eventually gained a 55-51 lead with 8:37 to go in the game. Thomas took back over with a 10-2 run that gave them the lead back for good as they pulled away with the 82-71 victory.
Lovegeurson Fleurine led the way for Thomas with a 19-point, eight-rebound performance. Justin Butler and Michael Gilman each chipped in 17 points, with Butler adding six rebounds and five assists.
