Season Preview: Men's Basketball

Season Opener: The Mariners will open up the season in New York at Medgar Evans this Friday, November 9 at 7:00 pm and York College on Saturday, November 10.

History Against Medgar Evers: This is just the second meeting between the Mariners and the Cougars. The Cougars took the previous meeting on November 19, 2011 by a score of 78-50. 

Looking Ahead to the 2018-19 Season: Maine Maritime returns three of their top four scorers from last season, including the team's leading scorer, senior center Adam Richardson (Bradley, Maine). Richardson averaged 13.4 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game, and led the NAC with a 60.1 field goal percentage.

Nicholas DePatsy (Waldoboro, Maine) returns for his junior season after averaging 12.5 points per game last season and ranking eighth in the conference in three point percentage (38.4). 

The Mariners have a competitive non-conference schedule to prepare them for conference play. The team welcomes a talented group of freshmen who are poised to make an immediate impact.

Conference Play: The Mariners will open up North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play at NVU-Johnson on Friday, November 30 and NVU-Lyndon on Saturday, December 1. 

The Coach: Dan McNeely enters his second season at the helm for the Mariners.

Captains: Coach McNeely has named Nicholas DePatsy, Riley MacLeod (Bucksport, Maine) and Adam Richardson as captains of this year's squad.

NAC Preseason Poll: Maine Maritime has been selected to finish seventh in the NAC in the Preseason Poll conducted by the leagues' coaches.

Husson University was picked at the top of the poll, followed by UMaine-Farmington and NAC newcomer SUNY Canton.

Looking Back at 2017-18: Last season the Mariners went 5-20 overall and 4-14 in conference play. The Mariners won back-to-back conference victories for the first time since the 2012-13 season and also claimed their first conference weekend sweep since the 2007-08 season when they defeated a pair of NAC opponents in back-to-back days.
