PORTLAND, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy men's basketball fell to the Division I University of Maine 90-50 on Sunday afternoon in an exhibition game at the Portland Expo.
How it Happened: The Black Bears jumped out to a 17-4 lead and never looked back, outscoring the Mariners 47-29 in the first half and 43-21 in the second half.
Inside the Numbers: Nicholas DePatsy (Waldoboro, Maine) led the Mariners with 11 points, four rebounds, two assists and a steal, while Riley Jorgenson (Vienna, Va.) added 10 points, three rebounds, three assists and two steals and Riley MacLeod (Bucksport, Maine) chipped in with eight points, three assists and a rebound.
Andrew Fleming scored a game-high 23 points and pulled down 10 rebounds for the double-double, while adding two steals, an assist and a block to lead Maine. Miks Antoms added 12 points, four rebounds, two assists, a steal and a block and Nedeljko Prijovic tallied 10 points, six assists, three rebounds and two steals.
The Mariners shot 38.2 percent from the floor, and 22.2 percent from beyond the arc while the Black Bears shot 52.9 percent from the floor and 27.6 percent from three-point land. UMaine held a 48-24 advantage in rebounds.
Up Next: The Mariners (2-1) return to action on Monday, December 2 when they head to the University of New England for a 7:00 pm non-conference matchup. The Black Bears (2-3) return to action on Wednesday, when they travel to face the defending national champion University of Virginia at 4:00 pm.
