LEICESTER, Mass. – Maine Maritime Academy men's basketball fell to Becker College, 75-51 on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action inside of Leicester Gymnasium.
How it Happened: The Mariners scored first but the Hawks scored 14-unanswered points to take a double-digit lead at 15:53. Becker used an 11-3 run in the final five minutes of the first half to hold a 48-30 advantage at halftime.
The Hawks maintained their double-figure advantage throughout the second half on their way to the victory.
Inside the Numbers: Nicholas DePatsy (Waldoboro, Maine) led the Mariners with 16 points, four rebounds and three assists, while DeMerrill Levy (Houston, Texas) added seven points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals, and Kimani Anderson (Houston, Texas) contributed six points, five rebounds, three assists and a steal.
Mateus Ribero led the Hawks with a game-high 22 points and 15 rebounds for a double-double, while also adding four assists and three steals, Makhi Chester contributed 15 points, four rebounds, four assists and a steal and Terrance Edwards chipped in with 11 points, two rebounds and a block, off the bench.
The Mariners shot 35.3 percent from the floor and 42.9 percent from three-point land, while the Hawks shot 54.9 percent overall and 46.7 percent from beyond the arc. Becker held a 34-29 edge in rebounds.
Up Next: The Mariners fall to 2-5 overall, while the Hawks improve to 7-5 on the season. Maine Maritime returns to action on Tuesday, December 31 when they host Eastern Nazarene inside of Smith Gymnasium for a non-conference matchup at 1:00 pm.
