NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. – Maine Maritime Academy golf finished 17th at the two-day Hampton Inn Collegiate Invitational hosted by UMass Dartmouth on Friday and Saturday.
The Mariners combined for a team score of 723 (366-357), led by freshman Chance Whittemore (Skowhegan, Maine) who improved by four shots on his day one total to place tied for 60th (88-84-172). Joseph Moir (Bangor, Maine) tied for 74th overall with a two-day total of 179 (92-87). Logan Peacock (West Gardiner, Maine) placed 82nd (93-91-184), followed closely by teammate Elliott Sibley (Lincoln, Maine) in 84th (86-95-181) and Brayden Finn (Highland Park, Ill.) in 85th (96-95-185).
Tufts University took home the team victory, with a two-round total of 620 (310-310), and Tufts' Aaron Corn earned individual-champion honors with a 75-75-150 ledger. The Jumbos finished six strokes ahead of second-place Babson (626), while Amherst (640) and Husson (640) finished in a tie for third overall.
The Mariners return to action on Saturday, April 22 at the two-day Wildcat Spring Invitational hosted by Johnson & Wales.
