OAKLAND, Maine -- Maine Maritime Academy golf finished seventh out of 10 teams, with a team score of 326, at Saturday's UMaine-Farmington Invitational at the Waterville County Club.
Connor Mersch (Holderness, N.H.) led the Mariners with a 14th place finish out of 49 golfers, carding a 78. Elliott Sibley (Lincoln, Maine) finished in a five-way tie for 16th place, carding an 80. Chance Whittemore (Skowhegan. Maine) finished tied for 22nd place with an 81 and Joey Moir (Bangor, Maine) and T. Scott Hart (Franklin, Tenn.) tied for 38th place with an 87 to round out the Mariner-five.
Southern Maine took the team victory with a score of 300, while Colby College's Jack Griffith took individual medalist honors with a 73.
The Mariners return to action on Thursday, September 27 at the University of New England Invitational at the Cape Arundel Golf Club.
