OAKLAND, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy golf competed in the Thomas Invitational on Tuesday, finishing eighth out of nine teams.
Senior Logan Peacock (West Gardiner, Maine) led the Mariners, finishing tied for 25th out of 44 golfers, shooting an 87 on the par-70 course.
Junior Connor Mersch (Holderness, N.H.), senior Chance Whittemore (Skowhegan, Maine) and freshman Will Ducey (Savannah, Ga.) were all one shot back of Peacock, each shooting an 88 and finished tied for 27th. Senior Elliott Sibley (Lincoln, Maine) rounded out the five Mariners competing, finishing 39th with a score of 94.
University of Southern Maine shot a team score of 309 to finish in first, University of New England finished in second with a team score of 320, and Husson University finished third with a team score of 321. Southern Maine's Greg Kalagias was the individual medalist shooting an even par, 70 on the day.
Maine Maritime returns to action on Saturday when they compete in the Husson Invitational at Bangor Municipal Golf Course.
