KENNEBUNKPORT, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy men's golf competed in the University of New England Invitational on Wednesday at Cape Arundel Golf Course.
Senior Chance Whittemore (Skowhegan, Maine) led the Mariners, shooting an 80 on the par-69 course, finishing tied for 12th in the 30-man field. Senior Zachary Foss (Saco, Maine) and junior Connor Mersch (Holderness, N.H.) finished in a tie for 16th, with an 82.
Junior Carter Ward (Lincoln, Maine) finished just behind teammates Foss and Mersch, shooting an 83 and tying for 23rd. Freshman Andrew Roderigue (Waterville, Maine) rounded out the five Mariners competing shooting an 88, tying for 28th place.
University of Southern Maine took home team first place with a score of 298, University of New England claimed second with a 311 and Endicott College finished third with 321. Southern Maine's Greg Kalagias was the low medalist on the day finishing with a three-over 72, one shot ahead of UNE's Dylan Andrews who finished with a 73.
Mariners return to action on Saturday, September 28th, when they head to Presque Isle Country Club to compete in the UMPI Dual at 10:00am.
