MANCHESTER, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy golf finished fifth at Thursday's Mariner Invitational at the Augusta Country Club.
Senior Chance Whittemore (Skowhegan, Maine) led the Mariners, shooting a 77 on the par-70 course, finishing tied for fourth out of 45 golfers while Senior Logan Peacock (West Gardiner, Maine), shot an 83 to finish in a tie for 19th place.
Junior Carter Ward (Lincoln, Maine) finished one shot behind Peacock with an 84, to finish in a tie for 24th, junior Connor Mersch (Holderness, N.H.) finished tied for 31st with an 86 and freshman Sam Sharpe (Brunswick, Maine) rounded out the Maine Maritime team, with an 88 to finish in 34th.
University of Southern Maine had a team score of 308 to finish in first out of the nine teams, while University of New England finished second with a 312 and Thomas College rounded out the top three with a score of 318. Southern Maine's Tristan Dundas and Kyle Morin finished a tie for first, each shooting a 75.
Maine Maritime returns to action on Saturday, October 12 and Sunday, October 13 in the North Atlantic Conference Championship at Waterville Country Club.
