OAKLAND, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy golf finished sixth out of nine teams this weekend at the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Championship held at Waterville Country Club to wrap up their fall season.
Senior Chance Whittemore (Skowhegan, Maine) dropped 10-strokes from his day-one score to lead the Mariners on the weekend carding a 156 (83-73) on the par-70 course, finishing in 13th. Junior Connor Mersch (Holderness, N.H.) and freshman Sam Sharpe (Brunswick, Maine) finished tied for 18th each totaling a weekend score of 162.
Junior Carter Ward (Lincoln, Maine) finished in a tie for 29th with a weekend score of 167, while senior Logan Peacock (West Gardiner, Maine) rounded out the Mariner-five, placing in a tie for 33rd with a two-day score of 172.
SUNY Delhi took home the NAC Championship with a two-day team score of 600 (295-305), Husson University placed second with a team score of 612 (311-301), and Thomas College placed third with a score of 618 (309-309). Husson's Eric Dugas was the top individual medalist with five-over 145 (77-68). Castleton's Jacob Erwin and SUNY Delhi's Daniel Christy finished tied for second, each shooting a 147 on the weekend.
