NORTHFIELD, Vt. – Maine Maritime Academy men's lacrosse fell 12-3, in a non-conference matchup with Norwich University on Wednesday afternoon.
The Cadets scored three goals in each quarter, while holding the Mariners to just three goals to claim the victory.
Dean Samuelson (Southbury, Conn.) led the Mariners with a goal and an assist, Chase Whittemore (Skowhegan, Maine) added his ninth goal of the season, and Zachary Doucette (Portland, Maine) tallied his fourth goal of the season. Freshman Nathan Granholm (Brunswick, Maine) led Maine Maritime with a career-high seven caused turnovers, George Doe (Kennebunkport, Maine) scooped up a game-high seven ground balls, and both Nikko Pappas (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) and Alec Grant (Hollis, N.H.) scooped up six ground balls and caused three turnovers.
Josh Jenkins led the Cadets with two goals and two assists and Aidan Moulton chipped in with two goals while eight-different players added one goal each. Joseph Santangelo led Norwich with five ground balls, and both Jimmy Warden and Kyle Maxim tallied two caused turnovers.
In the loss, Maine Maritime's Daniel Lee (Satellite Beach, Fla.) stopped 13 of the 25 shots he faced, while Norwich's Brandon Milburn earned the win in net stopping six of the eight shots he faced in just over 50 minutes in net.
The Mariners fall to 0-6 on the season, while Norwich improves to 3-5 overall. Maine Maritime returns to action this weekend against Johnson State College.
