Colton Michel led the Mules with three goals and three assists, while teammates Austin Sayre, Lane Kadish and Kevin Seiler tallied two goals each. Graham Lian led Colby's defense with three caused turnovers, while Brad McCarthy led all players with eight ground balls. C.J. Layton earned the win in net for the Mules recording seven saves, in just under 37 minutes of action.
Maine Maritime Academy's Last Game: Maine Maritime Academy men's lacrosse picked up a 6-3 victory over Lyndon State College on Saturday morning in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action at Varsity Field.
Tom Anderson (Danvers, Mass.) put the Mariners on the board first at 10:16, with his fourth goal of the season, and teammate Michael Martel (Biddeford, Maine) added a goal less than three minutes later to give the Mariners a 2-0 advantage. The Hornets added a last second goal to cut the Mariners' lead to 2-1 entering the second quarter.
Martel tallied the lone goal in the second quarter to send the Mariners into halftime with a 3-1 advantage.
Alex Grant-Roy (Biddeford, Maine) scored early in the third quarter to extend Maine Maritime's lead to three (4-1), but the Hornets added a goal at 3:12 to close the gap to 4-2. Grant-Roy added his second goal of the game with 12 seconds left in the quarter to send the Mariners into the fourth quarter with a 5-2 lead.
Lyndon closed the gap to two goals on a score from Conor Brennan, but Sawyer Watson (Topsham, Maine) added a goal in the final three minutes to secure the 6-3 victory for the Mariners.
Grant-Roy led the Mariners with two goals, three caused turnovers and two ground balls, while Martel also net two goals and scooped up two ground balls. Watson added a goal and an assist and scooped up a team-high six ground balls, while Anderson also net a goal and dished out an assist while scooping up two ground balls. William Evon (Barrington, Ill.) added a game-high six caused turnovers while also scooping up five ground balls and dishing out an assist.
Brennan, Spencer Aubin and Joseph Ricco tallied goals for the Hornets. Shea Jones scooped up a team-high six ground balls while also tallying three caused turnovers and two assists.
Isaiah Weston (Mt. Vernon, Maine) earned the victory in net for the Mariners with six saves, while Lyndon's Marcus Bessette tallied 12 saves in the loss.
The Mariners edged the Hornets in ground balls, 34-28, but the Hornets outshot the Mariners 32-29.
Colby College's Last Game: The Colby College men's lacrosse team fell 16-12 loss to Williams College in NESCAC play Saturday.
Tucker Dietrick scored four goals and dished out three assists against the Ephs.
C.J. Hassan and Don Vivian both had two goals and one assist for the Mules. Charlie Lynch added one goal and one assist. Riley Bergstrom, Mason Brady, John Pappas, and Joe Paolatto also tallied.
James Mcfarland scored six goals and had one assist for Williams.
The Mules missed on their first extra-man opportunity, but scored on the next four. Colby also had a 44-42 advantage in shots and had only 10 turnovers in the game.
Williams helped its own cause by winning 22 of the 32 face-off attempts.
Lynch finished with a team-high six ground balls for Colby. Graham Lian and Paolatto both had four ground balls.
The Ephs opened with three straight goals in the first 6:48 of the game. However, Colby bounced back and scored the next three goals to tie the game at 3-3 early in the second quarter.
Williams scored four of the next six goals to take a 9-5 lead at halftime. With the score 7-5 after a Bergstrom goal with 1:22 remaining, Williams scored twice in the final 17 seconds to take a 9-5 lead.
Vivian and Lynch scored two of the first three goals of the third quarter to cut the margin to 10-7. However, Williams scored four goals in the final 3:36 of the quarter to take control.
The Ephs went up 15-7 with 11:10 left in the game, but Colby fought back with five of the next six goals.
