The Mariners in Season Openers: The Mariners are looking for their first season-opening victory since the 2009 season when they defeated Green Mountain. 

Series Records: The Mariners hold a 3-0 all-time advantage over the Hawks.

Last Meeting: Maine Maritime defeated Becker 11-7 in the last meeting on March 22, 2008. Last year's scheduled matchup against the Hawks was canceled due to weather.

Becker College's Last Game: The Becker College men's lacrosse team dropped their season opener to Anna Maria College, 29-3, last Saturday afternoon.

Anna Maria burst out with eight consecutive goals led by Eric Glover who had three in the run. Becker's Jack Schneider put the Hawks on the board with 4:11 to go in the first quarter with an unassisted goal. Anna Maria's Quinn Hannagan and Nick Massaro put two more on the board for the AMCATS in the first. The AMCATS led 10-1 heading into the second.

Anna Maria continued to increase their lead in the second as they put four more up before Becker saw its second goal of the game midway through the second quarter when Matthew Guerin scored on a helper from Schneider.  Anna Maria's Ryan Morley and Brandon Pavoni led the AMCATS on a 6-0 run to set the halftime score at 20-22.

Anna Maria held off the Hawks in the third and fourth quarters.  The AMCATS scored six in the third and three in the final quarter, while Becker's Schneider scored his second of the day in the third. The final score stood at 29-3.

The AMCATS outshot the Hawks, 63-27. AMCATS' Pavoni and Morley each had five goals apiece. Pavoni and Massaro logged five assists, while Morely posted a game-high six. Glover, Hannagan, and Tim Harrington each had three goals apiece for Anna Maria.

Becker's Schneider scored two and assisted the other goal of the game.  Pavoni was Anna Maria's ground ball leader with six, while Lewis Jaworski led the Hawks with a team-high four. The AMCATS held a 46-22 edge in that category.

Anna Maria's Gage Garcia earned the win in net, stopping 6-of-8 shots on net.  Griffin Moore played the second half and made three saves. Daniel Whittenburg was tabbed the loss in his goalkeeping debut. 

NAC Preseason Poll: The Mariners were selected to finish third, out of seven teams, in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Preseason Coaches' Poll.

James Dillon returns for his second season at the helm for the Mariners. After losing only three players to graduation, Maine Maritime Academy (4-8, 4-3 NAC) welcomes back a talented and seasoned group of returners, including junior Nathan Granholm (Brunswick, Maine) who was named to the 2018 NAC First-Team. The squad also welcomes a talented group of freshmen, and are looking forward to making another NAC Tournament appearance. 

NECC Preseason Poll: The Hawks were picked to finish third, out of four teams, in the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Preseason Poll.

This year the Hawks returned 2018 Rookie of the Year, Matthew Guerin who finished his rookie season with 23 goals, good for fourth in the NECC.

Team Captains: Sophomore long-stick midfielder William Evon (Barrington, Ill.), junior defender Nathan Granholm and sophomore attacker Sawyer Watson (Topsham, Maine) have been named team captains for the Mariners.

Junior attacker Jack Schneider joins, senior midfielder Jeffrey Schaeffer and senior long-stick midfielder Lewis Jaworski as captains of the Hawks.
