Maine Maritime Drops Non-Conference Game to Dean

FRANKLIN, Mass. – Maine Maritime Academy men's lacrosse fell to Dean College 19-4 in non-conference action at Grant Field on Wednesday afternoon.

How it Happened: Dean scored 10 goals in the first quarter and added three goals in the second quarter to take a 13-1 lead into halftime and picked up the 19-4 win.

Inside the Numbers: Zeke Tocci (Naples, Maine) led the Mariners with two goals, both Jayden Wilson (Lewiston, Maine) and James Laser (Bath, Maine) tallied the other goals for Maine Maritime. Laser led the Mariners with seven ground balls and four caused turnovers.

In net, Matthew Emery (St. Johnsbury, Vt.) collected four saves in the first half, while Verne Rice (Stratham, N.H.) stopped three shots in the second half. 

Anthony Trasacco and Louis Piccolo led the Bulldogs with five goals each, Brody Fredericks added three goals and Joshua Harrison added a pair of scores. Piccolo and Joe White led the team with three ground balls each. 

Alex Govoni collected 15 saves in 45 minutes of action in net for Dean.

The Mariners won the battle of groundballs, 25-17 and won 13 faceoffs while the Bulldogs won 12.  

Up Next: The Mariners fall to 0-5 on the season, while the Bulldogs improve to 4-3 overall. Maine Maritime returns to action on Saturday, April 6 when they travel to Thomas College for a 1:00 pm North Atlantic Conference (NAC) matchup.
