WATERVILLE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy men's lacrosse fell to Colby College 20-3, on Tuesday night in non-conference action at Harold Alfond Stadium.
How it Happened: The Mules jumped out to a 8-0 lead, before Max Barton (Yarmouth, Maine) put the Mariners on the board in the second quarter. The Mules added three goals to take an 11-1 lead into halftime.
Jayden Wilson (Lewiston, Maine) and Zeke Tocci (Naples, Maine) scored back-to-back goals in the third quarter, but the Mules added four goals in the third and held the Mariners scoreless in the final quarter to pick up the 20-3 victory.
Inside the Numbers: Barton, Tocci and Wilson led the Mariners with goals, while both James Laser (Bath, Maine) and Nathan Granholm (Brunswick, Maine) led the Mariners with three ground balls and Granholm and William Evon (Barrington, Ill.) led the team with two caused turnovers.
Max Cushman led the Mules with four goals and three assists, teammate Beck French tallied a hat trick, and Jung Shin scooped up a game-high eight ground balls.
C.J. Layton earned the win in net for Colby, with four saves.
Colby dominated ground balls, 46-17 and went 22-of-25 on the faceoff.
Up Next: The Mariners fall to 2-2 on the season, while the Mules improve to 7-5 overall. Maine Maritime returns home to host NVU-Lyndon on Saturday, April 20 for Senior Day at 1:00 pm.
