Mariners Place Five on All-NAC Team

CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy's Nathan Granholm (Brunswick, Maine) has been named to the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Men's Lacrosse First Team, while teammates William Evon (Barrington, Ill.), Alex Snowman (Sarasota, Fla.) and Zeke Tocci (Naples, Maine) earned a spot on the Second Team and Oscar Kwok (York, Maine) was named to the Sportsmanship Team.

Granholm, a junior Marine Engineering Technology major, appeared in all 10 games for the Mariners this season, tallying three goals, including two man-up goals, one assist, 27 ground balls and 15 caused turnovers. Against conference opponents Granholm tallied one goal, one assist, 18 ground balls and 10 caused turnovers.

Evon, a sophomore Marine Engineering Operations major, led the Mariners with 63 ground balls and 21 caused turnovers this season, and also chipped in with four assists. Evon ranked third in the NAC in caused turnovers and fifth in the NAC in ground balls. When playing conference opponents, Evon scooped up 46 ground balls and caused 11 turnovers. 

Snowman, a freshman Marine Engineering Technology major tallied six goals, including a man-up goal, two assists, 39 ground balls and a caused turnover this season for the Mariners, while going 105-of-213 on the faceoff. Snowman ranked third in the NAC in total faceoffs won and second in the conference in NAC play.

Tocci, a sophomore Marine Transportation Operations major, had an impressive sophomore season, leading the team with 27 goals, including three man-up goals and one man-down goal. Tocci also totaled 12 assists, 21 ground balls and four caused turnovers. Against NAC teams, Tocci ranked fifth in the conference in goals. Tocci tallied seven multi-goal games, and scored three or more goals in six games, including tallying a career-high six goals and six assists in the Mariners' win over NVU-Johnson on April 13.

Kwok, a freshman Vessel Operations Technology major, ranked second on the Mariners in caused turnovers (17) and third in ground balls this (33). In conference action, Kwok ranked second among all NAC players in caused turnovers. The LSM also chipped in with two assists. The NAC Men's Lacrosse Sportsmanship Team is reserved for those who have distinguished themselves through demonstrated acts of sportsmanship and ethical behavior. The honorees are individuals who have positively affected the lacrosse culture and environment and whose behavior clearly demonstrates sportsmanship and integrity that go beyond the playing rules and etiquette.
