CASTINE, Maine – The Maine Maritime Academy men's lacrosse team is proud to announce their 2019 schedule and captains.
Maine Maritime's Head Lacrosse Coach, James Dillon has announced that William Evon (Barrington, Ill.), Nathan Granholm (Brunswick, Maine) and Sawyer Watson (Topsham, Maine) have been named team captains.
"Billy has a work ethic unlike anyone I've seen at his age," said Dillon. "The type of GPA he carries relative to his course load is remarkable. The fact that he performs the way that he does in the classroom and finds time to develop and maintain his athleticism is even more impressive. His commitment to his studies, the weight room, and his effort in practice is the gold standard in the program. We're happy to have him stalking the middle of the field and creating transition for us as the 2019 rules changes have been creating more up-tempo games."
"Nate has been a leader in this program since he arrived as a freshman," said Dillon. "His contributions to our team's rebuild have led to a steady growth in buy-in from the guys in our locker room. He embodies leadership in everything that he does and we're looking forward to him building on his stellar 2018 season."
"Sawyer's emergence as a leader has been welcomed and exciting to see unfold," said Dillon. "He understands how to motivate his teammates by combining a strong connection developed off the field, to then pushing limits in practice. He deserves a lot of credit for developing the chemistry in our offensive unit during the preseason."
