NORTFIELD, Vt. – Maine Maritime Academy men's soccer fell to SUNY Maritime 2-1 on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action at Norwich University's Sabine Field.
The Mariners fall to 0-3-1, while the Privateers improve to 4-0. Maine Maritime returns to action next Saturday, September 15 at UMaine-Farmington at 3:30 pm for their North Atlantic Conference (NAC) opener.
The Privateers struck late in the first half on a goal from Anthony Palazzolo to send the team into halftime tied at 1-1.
Neil Dillon scored the game-winning goal for the Privateers in the 62nd minute.
SUNY Maritime held a 30-11 edge in shots, and a 9-4 advantage in corner kicks.
Maine Maritime's Andrew Coleman (Saco, Maine) made eight saves in the loss, while Michael Rodriguez made five saves in the victory for SUNY.
