CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy men's soccer scored two goals in the second half to defeat SUNY Maritime 2-0 in the final game of the Maritime Cup at Ritchie Field on Sunday afternoon.
After a scoreless first half, where the Privateers outshot the Mariners 10-6, Pieter Oudejans (Rockledge, Fla.) found the back of the net, on a ball from teammate Dalton Moore (Hollis Center, Maine) in the 62nd minute to put Maine Maritime on top.
Moore added an insurance goal in the 78th minute and the Mariners held off the Privateers for the victory.
Trevor Gray (Gorham, Maine) picked up his first career win in net for the Mariners, stopping all seven shots he faced, while Ethan Silver collected three saves in the loss for SUNY.
With the win the Mariners improve to 2-0-1 overall, while the Privateers fall to 3-2. Maine Maritime returns to action on Wednesday night when they host Colby College for a non-conference matchup at 6:30 pm.
