LEWISTON, Maine – Senior Matt Caron (Scarborough, Maine) scored in the 83rd minute to lift Maine Maritime Academy men's soccer over Bates College, 2-1 on Tuesday night in non-conference action at Garcelon Field.

Caron found teammate Evan Backus (Farmington, Maine) for the first goal of the game in the 28th minute and the Mariners took a 1-0 lead into halftime.
The Bobcats tied things up in the 67th minute, when Owen Keleher's initial shot was blocked by a Mariner defender and teammate Ciaran Bardong snuck the rebound in for the score, but a corner kick from Caron deflected off a Bates defender in the 83rd minute to seal the victory for the Mariners.
