Cross Country Teams Named to USTFCCCA All-Academic Team

CASTINE, Maine – The Maine Maritime Academy Men's and Women's Cross Country Teams have been named to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division III All-Academic Team.

The men's cross country team is comprised of 19 student-athletes who combined to average an overall GPA of 3.24 and is earning the honor for the fifth-consecutive season.

The women's cross country team is comprised of 11 student-athletes who combined to average an overall GPA of 3.43.

This is the seventh-consecutive year that a Maine Maritime Academy Cross Country Team has been named to the USTFCCCA Division III All-Academic Team, but the first time in program history that both the men's and women's teams have earned a spot on the team in the same season.

The men's cross country team previously earned the honor in 2012, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 and the women's cross country team earned the honor in 2013.

For a team to be considered for this honor, it must have competed and compiled a team score at an NCAA Regional meet and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.10 on a 4.0 scale.

Overall, there were 393 teams honored by the USTFCCCA, of which 215 were women's teams.
